AASHE STARS Overview
SF State participates in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), which is used by more than 900 colleges and universities around the world to benchmark their sustainability efforts. SF State's latest report in 2023 earned a Gold rating for the first time and was rated the 3rd highest score in the California State University system. We encourage you to browse our STARS reports to see details on our performance and where we can improve.
In 2023, San Francsico State University achieved a Gold certification in the AASHE STARS report for the first time.
In 2017 and 2018, SF State received Silver ratings.
A goal in our Climate Action Plan is to achieve a Platinum rating by 2027! We need 11.06 points to reach a Platinum rating and we want to create an actionable plan to achieve this. We have evaluated the possible points we could still earn and have selected these categories to focus on:
|Food & Dining
|Air & Climate
